Stage 4 | Phase 2 – The Enigmatic Lagoons of Moxos

Bolivia • South America • 15 min • 2018

Synopsis

The fourth stage was divided into two phases within the territory of Bolivia.

The second phase of the fourth stage took place in January 2018, also in Bolivia.

The Reality set off again from Santa Cruz de la Sierra, but in the opposite direction, heading north, toward the Amazonian region of Beni.

There, hundreds of enigmatic artificial lagoons known as Moxos exist, created thousands of years ago. The Mamoré and Beni rivers are among the main rivers that form the Madeira River, a body of water that in Rondônia, through its flood periods, potentially reflects the moisture that fails to migrate toward south-central South America, contributing to increasingly severe droughts in this region.

For this production, the expedition crossed what was considered the most impassable of Bolivian roads.

The documentary also reveals the transition between the Amazon and the Andes mountain range in the region of La Paz and Lake Titicaca, passing through the cradle of one of the oldest civilizations of the continent, Tiwanaku.
