Stage 1 – Transition between the Andes and the Amazon

Acre (Brazil) and Peru • South America • 16 min • 2015

Synopsis

The first stage, carried out between Acre and Peru in September 2014, is guided by the report “The Future Climate of the Amazon”, by the scientist Antonio Donato Nobre (INPE).

According to the study, Amazonian moisture “makes a curve” until it collides with the Andes mountain range in this region and falls, influencing the alluvial plains of south-central South America, mainly during the hemispheric summer.

The documentary presents three routes linking the Andes to the Amazon: the terraced road that crosses Manu National Park, the paved Interoceanic Highway, and the Urubamba River that connects Machu Picchu to the Amazon Rainforest.
